Today's movie review is on the movie: "SAW V".

I eagerly anticipated the release of this installment to the "SAW" series. I have been a fan of the series, always enjoying the various clues, and traps that were designed.  This movie had new characters, old characters, new traps, old traps, and the whole gambit of features that distinguish the SAW series of movies. A fair warning to those that are planning to see the movie - STOP READING NOW.

First things first, Yes the Jigsaw character makes a presence - I know, I know we all thought he was dead.  Well, he is.  But, he makes a few scenes, using flashbacks. We learn the history behind the previous movies, and the development and sculpting of Jigsaw's replacement.  (Yikes, I know, I just told you that there is a new Jigsaw, and thus the potential for more SAW movies!).  With that being said, I was overjoyed to learn that the trap/trick creator that was involved with the previous movies, was also involved in this release as well.

Second, the movie ties together the past with the present, while leaving the audience desiring to know the future.  Will there be another SAW movie - sure the possibility is there.  In this movie, yet another detective/investigator becomes entwined with the knots that Jigsaw creates.  Only at the end, does he realize that he rope we call mystery is unraveling leaving him with nothing to hang on to.  The new Jigsaw is as devious as his predecessor, but he has much to learn.

Finally, the traps that are used in this movie are interesting.  Each trap can be solved any of a variety of ways.  Often we get tunnel vision, and see only one way to solve the riddle, but as Jigsaw points out, there are many options, and many ways to solve the puzzle, even if death might be one of them.  The traps contain the required amount of blood and guts, along with deaths and deception. As I was watching the traps, I can't help but think if the contestants or victims simply followed the rules they would all survive.

In conclusion, SAW-V is a must see for any true SAW fan.  The new puzzles, and character development, encourages the viewer to understand what is happening, and more importantly why.  I went on a Saturday evening, and the theater was about 1/2 full. At the end of the movie, I knew what was going to happen, but I think that is the exact reason why I wanted to see the movie.  I knew people would be placed in situations where they can choose to succeed as a group, or die off one by one.
